To be held at the Seaport Hotel World Trade Center

What can we do to make more of our projects succeed? Projects live in an organizational environment. All projects will benefit from a healthy project environment. A healthy environment starts with understanding and promoting the CHAOS Five Commandments, which are Community, Awareness, Purpose, Pride, and Earnestness (CAPPE). The theme for CHAOS University 2008 is "Creating a Healthy Project Management Ecosystem." The purpose of the event is to explore ways to identify the CAPPE commandments, take action to enhance and promote them, and raise the project success quotient. This 2008 event will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, at the Seaport Hotel World Trade Center on November 6th and 7th.

Program Overview
Feedback from past CHAOS University retreats indicated that workshops and their presentations were the most valuable parts of each event. In addition, many executives have expressed that they are squeezed for time; therefore we have streamlined the event to two days and focused on the workshops. Other than the opening and closing remarks, the event will feature only three items: workshops, case presentations, and case studies. Here is a general description of these sessions:
Workshop Overview: In our "CAPPE" workshops we will break out into small groups of eight to 10 people. A Standish moderator will facilitate each workgroup. The workshop will run for 45 minutes. The groups are given a different case puzzle with a set of directions, problems, and goals. For example, in the first workshop each group will be given a story of the sense of Community. The goal is to recognize this skill and find ways to improve it.
Workshop Presentations: After the workshop group has solved their puzzle, each group will then elect a spokesperson and create a predefined formatted presentation. The groups will then return to the general assembly and each group's spokesperson will be given five minutes to present their results.
Workshop Commentary: Each executive sponsor will provide a case study that provides an example how the commandment has lead to a better project ecosystem and promotes greater project success.
